‘General Hospital’ actor fatally shot by catalytic converter thief

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An actor known for his “General Hospital” role was fatally shot when he interrupted thieves stealing the catalytic converter from his car in downtown Los Angeles, the police said.

Johnny Wactor, 37, was walking to his car after finishing a bartending shift around 3 a.m. Saturday, May 25, the police account said. As he approached, he saw the car was raised on a floor jack and three men were removing the catalytic converter.

One of the men shot Wactor, and all three fled in a car, the police said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics took Wactor to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No suspects had been arrested as of Tuesday.

Wactor’s best-known role was as Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.” He played the part from January 2020 to September 2022, when the character was killed.
