The incident happened just before 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bhindi Jewelers, located at 5944 Newpark Mall Road, the Newark Police Department said in a news release.
At least a dozen suspects “forcibly entered the store, shattered glass display cases and seized a substantial amount of jewelry,” police said. The exact value of the stolen items has not been determined.
Several vehicles with getaway drivers were standing by during the robbery, police said.
“The entire incident took place within minutes,” police said.
No injuries were reported.
Police did not announce any arrests or release descriptions of the suspects Thursday.
