OAKLAND — A shooting during a robbery in the Fruitvale District early Thursday injured a man, police said.

The gunfire happened about 6:50 a.m. in the 3600 block of E. 12th Street and wounded the man in the leg, police said.

According to police, the shooting happened during the robbery, and the person who was shot had his cell phone taken.

Police said the suspect fled in a vehicle. They did not have an adequate description of the suspect.

The man was at a hospital in stable condition, police said.
