SJPD arrests suspect on warrant after man barricades self in home

San Jose police took a suspect into custody Thursday morning after he barricaded himself inside a house for more than four hours when officers tried to service a search warrant, authorities said.

Around 7 a.m., officers from the San Jose Police Department special operations personnel arrived at the home on the 3200 block of Lantern Way to serve a search warrant.

The suspect barricaded himself inside the house, officers said, prompting the assistance of additional units at the scene. With the support of SJPD’s Tactical Negotiations Unit, authorities successfully negotiated with the suspect.

The suspect surrendered around 11:15 a.m., police said.

There were still road closures on Singleton Road between Verdi Drive to Locke Drive, authorities added around 1 p.m.
