FREMONT — A security guard died Thursday night following a confrontation with another person at a drug store within the Fremont Hub, police said.

The shooting happened about 11 p.m. in the 400 block of shopping center, which is at the corner of Fremont Boulevard and Mowry Avenue, according to a statement from Fremont police. Police responded to reports of a shooting and found both people down.
The security guard had at least one bullet wound, and the other person had more than one stab wound, police said.
Authorities did not identify the security guard, pending notification of relatives.
The homicide investigation is the first by Fremont police since December of last year.
According to police, the security guard and the other person began to argue for some reason. At some point relatively quickly into the argument, gunfire rang out and hit the security guard, police said.
The security guard died at the scene. Police said the other person went via ambulance to a trauma unit at a nearby hospital. Police did not have an update on his condition.
