Los Gatos Farmers Market hosts annual zucchini car race

The Los Gatos Farmers Market will host its annual zucchini car race on Sunday, June 23 at 11 a.m..

The event will take place at the farmers market at the town park plaza. Attendees interested in racing zucchini cars on a custom-built ramp in the market can check in at the racetrack at 10:45 a.m..

Zucchini cars must be farm fresh, no wider than 6.5 inches and no longer than 16 inches. They must include an axel that goes through the zucchini and cannot use weights or motorized devices. The fastest cars will advance to the next round, and top racers will receive grand prizes.

Fourth of July events

This year, the town’s Fourth of July symphony in the park will include a stroller and bike parade.

The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Oak Meadow Park, and the parade will start at 11 a.m.. Event organizers are encouraging parade participants to decorate their bikes and strollers for the parade.

The event will also include remarks from Mayor Mary Badame, a flag-raising ceremony and performances by the San Jose Wind Symphony, in addition to food trucks, carousels and a beer and wine garden. For more information, visit losgatosca.gov/4thofjuly.
