SANTA CLARA – July 23 marks when all 49ers – Brandon Aiyuk, included – are due to report for training camp.
Rookies are scheduled to report a week earlier, on July 16.
Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is one of seven first-round picks who’ve yet to sign their rookie contracts. Pearsall did participate in offseasaon workouts and this month’s mandatory minicamp, unlike Aiyuk, who’s using social media to shine light on his contract imbroglio.
Players absent from camp are subject to $50,000 in daily fines.
The 49ers have yet to announce which practices will be open to fans at their Santa Clara training facility. They are one of six NFL franchises holding training camps in California. The Golden State six-pack includes:
*The Los Angeles Rams at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles
*The Los Angeles Chargers at their new training facility, The Bolt, in El Segundo
*The Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard
*The Las Vegas Raiders in Costa Mesa
*The New Orleans Saints at U.C. Irvine
The Saints are expected to host the 49ers in joint practices Aug. 14-15 prior to their Aug. 15 preseason game at Levi’s Stadium.
The Chargers held camp at Costa Mesa’s Jack Hammett Sports Complex the previous seven years, including 2021 joint practices there with the 49ers. The Chargers now have a $270 million, 150,000-square-foot training facility seven miles southwest of SoFi Stadium.
The Raiders swooped in to claim the Costa Mesa grounds and move their camp back across state lines, after spending the past four summer camps at their Henderson, Nevada headquarters. The Raiders are paying $165,000 in rent and are contributing $600,000 in field upgrades and $10,000 to local youth sports, the Los Angeles Times reported.
