STONYFORD, Calif. – The Sites Fire in Colusa County roared past the Post Fire in Southern California on Wednesday to become the biggest blaze burning in the state.

The fire now covers 19,124 acres, Cal Fire said in an update just after 9 p.m. It was 10% contained.
“Firefighters continued making progress on the west and east sides of the fire today,” Cal Fire said. “The north end of the fire remained active as crews aggressively continue to strengthen and deepen control lines to prevent further spread.”
The fire is threatening 326 structures. Evacuation warnings and orders are in place.
A shelter is available at the Colusa Veterans Hall, located at 108 East Main Street in Colusa.
The Sites Fire broke out around 1:40 p.m. Monday near Sites Lodoga Road and Wilson Creek, southeast of Stonyford. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Post Fire in Los Angeles and Ventura counties had burned 15,690 acres and was 43% contained as of Wednesday night.
