Union City theater shooting leaves one wounded

UNION CITY — A moviegoer was wounded in a shooting Wednesday morning inside a theater, authorities said.

Police said the adult male who was shot was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday inside a theater at Century Theaters, 32100 Union Landing Blvd., police said in a release.

Police said responding officers cleared the theater complex of all threats and evacuated the facility.

Several patrons got into a disturbance inside the theater prior to the shooting, authorities said. During the dispute, a man  fired a handgun.

Police said fewer than 20 people were inside the theater when the shooting happened. No one else was injured.

Police have not said what prompted the disturbance. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
