Calls to 911 around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, reported gunshots and what sounded like a vehicle collision.

Officers responding to Mission Street between 15th and 16th streets found the wreckage — a car that had crashed into unoccupied parked cars — and a person with a gunshot wound.

That person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers learned that two other people had been treated elsewhere for injuries apparently suffered in the same incident. One of them had a gunshot wound not thought to be life-threatening.
