Time is finally running out on A’s fans’ long goodbye.
After an entire summer trying to reconcile the A’s move to Sacramento after this season (and ultimately to Las Vegas if all goes to plan) and the loss of their team, Oakland fans have just one more week — six more chances — to see their team at the Coliseum, starting Friday night against the New York Yankees.
The A’s officially end their Oakland era with three games in Seattle next weekend. But it’s this final homestand of the A’s 57-year run in the East Bay that fans and Coliseum employees have long dreaded.
Oakland’s final regular-season game, Thursday afternoon against the Texas Rangers, is sold out. But tickets are available for the three-game weekend series against the Yankees and games Tuesday and Wednesday against the Rangers.
A’s fans have never been shy about voicing their displeasure in the stewardship of the franchise under John Fisher’s ownership, and this week will be no different.
Fan clubs have scheduled their own events to coincide with the final games in Oakland. The Last Dive Bar and Line 51 Brewery are hosting The Wake following the game at Line 51 (303 Castro Street in Oakland).
The A’s declined to open the tarp-covered seats on Mt. Davis for the final games, but larger-than-usual crowds are expected this week.
Those fans will see a team that has played better than most expected: The A’s have the American League’s fourth-best record since the All-Star break at 30-25.
Brent Rooker is two home runs away from becoming the first A’s player with 40 homers since Khris Davis in 2018. He also has 110 RBIs with an outside chance of being the first Athletic to reach 120 RBIs since Davis that year. With three more saves, fire-balling right-hander Mason Miller will be the first A’s closer to record 30 saves since Blake Treinen in — you guessed it — 2018.
Those bright spots make the team’s departure under Fisher all the more painful for some fans taking in their last games at the Coliseum. The A’s have billed the final homestand as a celebration of the team’s time in Oakland and lined up several giveaways for the games. They will also open the ballpark early so fans can watch the A’s take batting practice.

Promotions: Alumni Sunday (Carney Lansford, Terry Steinbach, and Miguel Tejada will sign autographs starting at 11:35 a.m. in the Eastside Club. Autographs are free and alumni will only sign pre-produced 5×7 autograph cards); Kids Cheer Free: Kids 14 and younger free with adult ticket. Kids Run the Bases following the game.
