The shooting was reported just before 6 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Harrison Street, near Cedarwood Lane, according to the Berkeley Police Department. Officers arrived to find a person suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

The victim received emergency first aid at the scene and was taken to a hospital for additional treatment, police said. An update on the victim’s condition was not immediately available.

Officers searched the area for the suspect and additional victims, but none were found.

No arrests were announced Tuesday, but an investigation is underway, police said.

Police have yet to release a motive for the shooting or a description of the suspect.

In a statement, police thanked neighboring law enforcement agencies for their assistance, as well as the Berkeley Fire Department for providing “excellent care” to the victim and being “prepared to receive more casualties had we located additional victims.”
