Police say the two met in person last June 20, and that Niosi strangled the victim to the point of unconsciousness during the assault. The teen later came forward to police, who were able to identify Niosi through electronic records, authorities said.

Niosi has pleaded not guilty. He remains jailed in lieu of $410,000 bail, records show. His preliminary hearing has been set for Oct. 1, when a judge will review prosecution evidence and determine if there is enough to uphold the charges.
