In what the agency expects to be a similar day to Tuesday, the National Weather Service predicted widespread scattered showers to give the Bay Area some beneficial rainfall on Wednesday, before temperatures drop to potentially freezing levels overnight.
The likelihood of rainfall is highest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. for the entirety of the Bay Area on Wednesday. The totals were forecast to be moderate at-best, according to the NWS.
For each of the major population centers, including San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco and the rest of the East Bay and Peninsula, no more than one-quarter of an inch was expected, though the nature of scattered showers mean totals can vary from city to city.

While those areas won’t likely see more than one-quarter of an inch, most were expected to receive at least one-tenth of an inch, ensuring a decent dousing throughout the day for the region. Light showers could linger all the way to 10 p.m., but evening rain amounts shouldn’t cover more than one-tenth of an inch in most of the Bay Area, according to the NWS.
As the rain gradually disappears in the evening, the South and East Bays should expect temperatures to drop to at or near freezing levels. Overnight low temperatures include 33 degrees in San Jose, 35 in Concord and 32 in Livermore. On the Peninsula and in bayside East Bay cities like Oakland and Hayward, lows were forecast closer to 40 degrees.
