Man found fatally shot in Oakland

OAKLAND — A 47-year-old man was fatally shot late Thursday afternoon in the Lower Dimond district, authorities said.

His name has not yet been released pending notification of relatives.

The man was found shot about 5:11 p.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of Wilson Avenue, just north of Interstate 580.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A parked vehicle was also hit by the gunfire, but no other injuries were reported.

Police have not released a motive yet for the killing or announced any arrests.

The killing is the 69th homicide investigated by Oakland police this year.  Last year at this time police had investigated 95 homicides in the city.
