The Richmond Fire Department sent out an advisory around 3:35 p.m. regarding a fire in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. Records and online maps show that the fire site is an industrial building that houses welding businesses and a home goods wholesaler.

“This structure was deemed to have hazardous materials inside and residents should (avoid) the area and smoke from this fire,” the advisory reads.

The department urged people living within a 6-block radius of the fire site to stay indoors and otherwise avoid the smoke.

Additional details about the fire, including whether anyone was injured or the extent of damage, were not immediately released Saturday.
