UNION CITY – An Alameda County sheriff’s deputy was shot while serving an eviction Wednesday in Union City, police said.
The deputy was taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as critical, but not life-threatening.
The suspect, meanwhile, remained at large.
The incident happened around 1:35 p.m. in the 33000 block of Dowe Avenue, off of Alvarado-Niles Boulevard, the Union City Police Department said in a statement. The suspect opened fire as deputies were serving an eviction in the area.
The suspect was believed to still be in the area and was considered armed and dangerous, according to police.
