Hayward man charged with murder in brother’s shooting death

HAYWARD — A 28-year-old man was charged with murder Friday in the fatal shooting Wednesday of his older brother, the city’s first homicide of the year, authorities said.

Bryan Rodriguez is charged in the killing of Jorge Rodriguez, 36.

Police have not yet said what they believe the motive for the shooting was.

The shooting happened around 3:25 p.m. Wednesday in the 21000 block of Foothill Boulevard, outside where Bryan Rodriguez lived, authorities said.

Police have not said where Jorge Rodriguez lived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bryan Rodriguez was arrested at the scene, police said.

He is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail and is scheduled to enter a plea on Monday, according to jail records.
