IRELAND: Pleasanton residents Al and Kathy Redmond visited Ireland in September on a 10 day trip through Mater Dei Tours. “It was a pilgrimage covering Belfast, Our Lady of Knock, Galway, Ring of Kerry, Rock of Cashel and Dublin,” Kathy says, with a stop in the Connemara region of County Mayo to see the Monument Cross to the Famine, pictured.
TRAVEL TIPS: The Redmonds were lucky with the weather — a little rain, but the days were mostly sunny and warm. That’s not always the case, Kathy warns. “Be prepared for changes in the weather. Bring rain gear, an umbrella and layers for warmth. Try the soups and breads, which are excellent!”
