CONCORD — A person died Tuesday morning after a small plane crashed on city streets near Buchanan Field Airport, according to authorities.
In a post to social media at 11:06 a.m., the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District confirmed that crews were responding to the crash and identified the aircraft as a Van’s RV-6, which is a two-seat, single-engine plane. The crash scene was at the intersection of Diamond Boulevard and Concord Avenue, a heavily-traveled area adjacent to the airport and Buchanan Fields Golf Course.

At 11:28 a.m., the district confirmed that one person died in the crash. Authorities said no one else was on board the plane, and no other vehicles on the ground were involved in the incident.
The investigation was turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
