Police said in a release that further investigation led officers to a nearby residence “associated” with the man; they contacted a woman who lived there. The investigators determined the stabbing happened at the residence, according to the release.

Brentwood police did not say in the release whether anyone had been arrested, or if investigators had pinpointed a possible motive in the attack. A spokesperson for the department declined to answer questions about whether the woman had been arrested.

Police did say there was no threat to public safety and no indication other people were involved.
