Oakland police ID man shot and killed during Jan. 7 argument

OAKLAND — Police here have identified a 34-year-old man who was shot and killed during an argument with another person on Jan. 7.

Romell Wright, 34, was fatally shot a little before 8 a.m. on the 1700 block of 89th Avenue in East Oakland, police said. He had no permanent address.

Wright may have been arguing with his killer about a debt, according to police. No arrests have been announced.

Police say Wright was shot more than once and died shortly after paramedics arrived in the area.
