ANTIOCH — A driver traveling the wrong way on eastbound Highway 4 collided head on with another vehicle early Saturday morning, killing both occupants, officials said.
Around 4:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol Contra Costa division responded to a two-vehicle crash on eastbound Highway 4, west of Lone Tree Way, Officer Adam Lane said. A preliminary investigation found that a blue Scion TC was traveling the wrong way and collided head on with a black Mazda 3. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene and no one else was in either car.
The crash is still under investigation and officials said they do not know if drugs or alcohol were involved.
