Motorcyclist dies in Alameda traffic collision

ALAMEDA — A motorcyclist died Sunday in a collision with a car, authorities said.

He was identified by the coroner’s bureau Monday as Albert Zhu, 31, of Alameda.

The collision happened about 1 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Ninth Street and Lincoln Avenue on the island’s west end.

According to police, the driver of the car was going northbound on Ninth Street and when turning left onto Lincoln Avenue the car collided with the motorcyclist, who was going east on Lincoln Avenue. Zhu was pronounced dead at the intersection.

It was not immediately known if anyone in the car was injured.

The collision remains under investigation by Alameda police. Anyone with information is asked to call the police department’s traffic division at 510-337-8340.
