SAN MATEO – A Caltrain hit and killed a person Tuesday evening in San Mateo, according to the commuter rail line.

The person was struck around 6:25 p.m. at the Hillsdale station, Caltrain said in a statement.
As of 6:50 p.m., trains were being turned around at the Belmont and San Mateo stations.
The commuter rail line said it was working to establish a bus bridge with SamTrans.
