Deputies were called to 170th Avenue, near Clinton Avenue, around 5:30 p.m. for a report of a person on the ground, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. They arrived to find a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to his head.

Emergency medical personnel quickly arrived at the scene, but the boy died of his injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

An investigation is underway into the homicide. The sheriff’s office said it believes the fatal shooting was an “isolated incident” and that there was no threat to public safety.

The sheriff’s office did not announce any arrests or release a description of a possible suspect Friday.
